KickArts Presents:

Event: Effigy

TBA Artist-Run-Initiative examines the human form through effigies.

The human form has long served as inspiration for artists seeking to create eternal effigies. Cairns based artists and members of the TBA Artist-Run-Initiative, Tim Allan, Trish Delaide, Pam Kusabs and Fiona Price, examine this history through their latest exhibition Effigy. Tim Allan transforms the religious iconography of stained glass windows into the painted medium through a series of modern Madonnas.

Trish Delaide interprets events broadcasted in newspapers, into paper mache figures that recreate the incident transcribed. Pam Kusabs draws upon a background of fashion design, converting fashion sketches into sculptural wire forms, whilst Fiona Price examines the complex relationships existing between people and the interactions, supportive or otherwise, that take place through a series of paintings.

Effigy is on display at KickArts Contemporary Arts Gallery Two from the 29th of April to the 20th of May 2017. The official opening will take place on the 28th of April 2017, 6-8pm.
