KickArts Presents:

Event: Shoot From The Hip

Shoot from the Hip examines the proliferation of Hipster culture and its subsequent impact on contemporary Australian art.

From the subversive, to the ironic, the exhibition highlights the unique approach made by Australian artists in responding to the subcultural rejection of mainstream society through Hipsterdom. A sense of nostalgia is incorporated with technological advances, whilst having a passion for fashion see the fusion of style and wit in a form of sartorial satire.

Featuring the work of The DC Style Fylez, Clinton Freeman, Luisa Rossitto, Kristin Tennyson, Ian Tunbridge, Samuel Tupou and The Wandering Room, Shoot from the Hip is on display at KickArts Contemporary Arts Gallery One from the 15th of April to the 17th of June 2017.

The free opening night celebrations on Friday the 28th of April 6-8pm, sees a number of surprises in stall for hipster aficionados including a DC Style Fylez styling booth - straight from the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney.
